COLT/IVER-JOHNSON
‘SINGLE ACTION ARMY BUNTLINE SPECIAL REVOLVER FROM THE ROBERT PETERSEN/HOLLYWOOD
STEMBRIDGE MOVIE GUN COLLECTION’
.45 Colt. 12-5/8” Barrel. sn:4305X. Blue Finish with Case Colored Receiver. From
the Personal Collection of Robert Petersen who Purchased the Movie Gun
Collection from Stembridge in Hollywood. Mr. Petersen had planned to open a
Movie Gun Museum in Los Angeles but his health failed and the guns were sold by
Little Johns Auction in 2007. In the confusion of transferring these guns the
file box of documentation on what films they were used in was lost. Mr.
Stembridge was going to Re-Research these and provide Letters of Documentation
but to my knowledge has not issued any to date. He is still in business
providing Studios with Rental Guns and might be Persuaded to Research and
Document this Gun. I personally was told by Mr. Stembridge at the Auction this
Gun was used by Actor Lee Van Clef in a Western. It is a Replica of the Famous
Colt Special Order Buntline Special with a Long Barrel, Adjustable Ladder Rear
Sight and Fitted to take a Detachable Shoulder Stock. Only about 6 were ever
Produced by Colt. Restored Originals have sold for well into the 100’s of
Thousands. No Stock is Included as this would Require Registration as a ‘Short
Barreled Rifle’ and payment of the $200.00 Federal Tax. In Fine 96% Condition
showing honest Blue fading. Superb Case Colored Receiver. Nicely Aged Brass
Frame. Bore is pitted from used with Movie Studio Blank Ammunition. With Copy of
Auction Catalog where this Exact Gun is Pictured and Described. A Shoulder Stock
is Pictured with this but was pulled from the Auction due to Federal
Regulations. A Great Piece of Movie History.
